Thanks for Listening: High Adventures in Journalism and Diplomacy
Patricia Gates Lynch
As a military wife, the author lived through a number of World War II experiences, including a stint at Oak Ridge, TN, where the Manhattan Project was underway. Following the War, she and her husband spent time in Munich and in Paris, where he was attached to SHAPE. She recounts her phenomenally successful Voice of America Radio experience, which began in a small Fairfax, VA station on her return to the United States. For a time, VOA loaned her to the Nixon White House, where she was a radio coach to First Lady Patricia Nixon. Pat Gates Lynch's career culminated with an ambassadorship to Madagascar under President Ronald Reagan. In her many years of service, she touched many lives, and became a positive force for good.
